| WHEN I see these photos, it puts me in mind of Thomas Gray's elegy "The curfew tolls the knell of parting day, the lowing herd wind slowly o'er the lea, the ploughman homeward wends his weary way, and leaves the world to darkness and to me". He wrote it in Stoke Poges churchyard in Buckinghamshire, UK, the same county and not far from the countryside shown on this page and on Autumn Days 1. |
